Frogs don't go Ribbet

I never even thought about it. Cows go moo, dogs go woof. Period. And today my friends and I were talking about frogs (for some reason) and they said "Kvæk". KVÆK! I thought it was a natural law that frogs go ribbet.. but no! In Denmark the frogs go kvæk. Then we just started listing off animals.. Dogs go vov. Pigs go øf (ooof). Cows and cats are the same: moo and meow. Horses go vrinsk. Sheep go mæh (meeehh). and Frogs go kvæk. Mind-blowing, right?

That's funny. I've actually heard there is a video out there of a bunch of exchange students making animal sounds. Someone would ask what a dog says and the person would answer. They would choose people from all over the world and you could get tons of different answers on what sound a dog makes. It's very interesting how even something as simple as the sound of an animal can change from language to language. Great blog by the way!

Oh that's too funny!

What a great cultural phenomenon to observe. Nice job. Do animals in Denmark also say "Rødgrød med fløde?" (Maybe only the "Squirrels in the refrigerator!")

I'm still enjoying the blog. Keep up the good work.

Oi, I love how some can't say squirrels and refrigerator to save their life. Then again, I can't say rødgrod med fløde to save my life either...
